This blog covers two topics which go hand in hand.
The first is ecology: looking at how plants and animals interact with each other, and how they interact with the landscapes they live in. This is a subject which many people enjoy (hands up if you like wildlife documentaries… or zoos), whether from a science perspective, an art perspective, or just a “that’s interesting” perspective, ecology is something everyone can appreciate on one level or another (or all of them).
The second topic is walking. By “walking” I mean everything from walking to work, to going for a walk on a Sunday afternoon, to longer walking trips. I’m very keen on walking as a form of transport. It’s good for your health, good for the environment, and good for seeing things which you may miss in a car or on a bike. Walking is a great recreation activity too, letting you go at your own pace, and go wherever your legs take you (within reason) for free (within reason).
As of the start of 2015, I’m going to be off travelling, and so this blog will be tracking my progress as I travel around the other side of the world. Don’t worry though, I’ll still be getting stuck into ecology (and conservation) and I’ll be walking wherever I end up.
If any of that sounds of interest, why not have a look around?
